The European Association For Cardio-Thoracic Surgery was founded in 1986 as a European organisation devoted to the practice of cardio-thoracic surgery. Membership has now spread all over the world with 3000 active members including surgeons, perfusionists and allied health professionals.
The main office and training facility, EACTS House, is based in Windsor in the UK. The Association has four member led Domains and various Committees that all play a crucial role in driving forward the EACTS mission.

As a registered charity, the EACTS is governed by the Trustees of the Charity and Council Members. The Constitution outlines the fundamental principles by which the Association is governed.
