
Slide Preview Room (Leven Room)
Slides may be reviewed in the slide preview and mounting room (Leven Room which is part of The Seminar Suite on Level 1 of the SECC). Please hand in your slides at least an hour prior to the start of the session in which your presentation is to be given. Failure to do so at this time could result in the slides not being available for projection when required. Slides must be collected from the Leven Room immediately following the end of the session.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY SINGLE SLIDE PROJECTION WILL BE AVAILABLE.
Poster Presentations
Posters must be set up in the appropriate room one hour prior to presentation. Posterboards (2 m high x 1 m wide) are numbered according to the programme. Please remove your poster at the end of the session. Any unclaimed posters will be taken to the Messages Desk in the registration area.These Sessions will start with a 30 minute viewing period. Presenters will then give a 2 minute summary in front of the poster followed by an 8 minute discussion guided by the Chairmen of the Session.
Oral and Forum Sessions
Oral papers are allocated 8 minutes presentation time followed by a discussion period of 7 minutes. Forum papers are allocated 5 minutes presentation time followed by a discussion period of 5 minutes.
Film Sessions
The duration of films is limited to 10 minutes and presenters should comment on the film during the presentation.
Computer Disk Presentation
The facility for using slides or presentations generated by computer is available if they comply with:

Please virus scan your document with a virus software less than 3 months old.
Speakers wishing to use this means of presentation should save their presentation onto a 3.5 inch 1.44 MB high density disk(s). The Powepoint 97 'pack and go' feature should be used for large presentations.
To assist the technicians with the identification of presentations, please save your presentation with your family name as part of the file name i.e. smith.ppt.
Please choose the "On screen show" output within the "slide set up" menu when formatting your presentation.To avoid technical problems, the disc presentations should be taken to the Slide Preview Room (Leven Room) the day before your presentation for review.
Discussion and Questions
There will be discussion microphones as well as hand-held microphones in each meeting room. Participants are encouraged to join in the discussion. To do so, you are requested to fill out a discussion card either before or immediately after the presentation and hand it to one of the conference assistants. The Chairman will announce your turn to speak. This is essential for the publication of the discussion afterwards.
Submission of Papers
The Constitution of EACTS (Article X Section 1) requires that the manuscripts of papers presented during oral and forum sessions should be submitted (4 copies) to the European Journal of Cardio-thoracic Surgery at the time of the Meeting. Authors are requested, therefore, to deliver copies of their paper to the publication desk (near the registration area) at the time of their presentation. Submission of papers presented in poster sessions is optional. However, the Editor of the Journal would be pleased to review any such papers.
Programme Changes
Programme changes will be shown on the Programme Changes Board situated close to the Messages Desk in the registration area.
Video Room (Carron Room 1)
A wide choice of videos on Cardiac and Thoracic surgical topics will be available for individual viewing on Monday 6 September and Tuesday 7 September from 09:00 until 17:00 in the Carron Room 1 which located on Level 1 of the SECC.
Anatomical Exhibition (Carron Room 2)
There will be an exhibition of heart and lung specimens on Monday 6 September and Tuesday 7 September in the Carron Room 2 which is located on Level 1 of the SECC Loch Suite. The European School of Cardiovascular Pathology, in collaboration with the Institute of Pathological Anatomy, Padua-Italy, the National Heart & Lung Institute, London-UK and the Department of Pathology, Edinburgh-UK, will present video, poster and hands-on specimen demonstrations of congenital and acquired heart and lung disease. Breakfast Sessions (Lomond, Alsh, Boisdale Rooms)
There will be three breakfast sessions each day which will take place at 07:15 hrs on Monday 6 September and Tuesday 7 September in the Lomond, Alsh and Boisdale Rooms, which are all located on the ground floor of the SECC Loch Suite. The sessions will run concurrently on each day. Attendance is by ticket only which may be purchased on a first-come first-served basis at a cost of EURO 15 from the Registration Desk on Sunday 5 September from 11:00 hrs and on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 September from 06:30 hrs.
