Committee on the Constitution

 The task of the committee is to

 1.      assist in making amendments of the constitution by serving as a check station after proposal from Council;

 2.      to serve as arbitrator in matters of interpreting the constitution.

The committee convenes at the request of the Council. A request from a member to engage the committee on constitution should be made in writing to the Council who then automatically engages the committee.

The committee consists of five members. Three senior surgeons are to be appointed with a vast knowledge of the inner affairs of the Association and preferably among those engaged in originally writing the constitution. Their terms should be three years but they may be indefinitely re-appointed. There should be two surgeons of lower age whose term is limited to three years. They cannot be re-appointed. The President and Secretary General of the Association are ex officio non-voting members.
