Transition from Trainee to Active Membership
Information on Trainee Membership of EACTS
A surgeon early in his/her training and career can apply for Trainee Membership and be accepted into the Association after consideration at the subsequent Annual Meeting. Trainee membership can be held for a maximum of five years. After this period, the surgeon will have to decide whether to apply for active (full) membership. It is foreseen that the surgeon in training should be fully committed to cardio-thoracic surgery, shown by at least two year's experience in this field
Trainee Members enjoy the following privileges:
The membership fee for Trainee members is only € 50. Trainee Members do not pay any initiation fee.
Prospective applicants will need to be supported by three Active, Honorary or Senior members of the EACTS.

Appropriately filled application forms will be forwarded to the Membership Committee for consideration and then to the Annual Meeting for approval by Members.
Transition from Trainne to Active Membership
Trainee membership of EACTS is only valid for up to 5 years. Article IV, Section 6 of the Constitution states: 'Trainee Membership shall be accorded to surgeons in training in cardiac and/or thoracic surgery. Trainee Membership cannot be held for more than five years.'
If you would like to become an active member of EACTS then the Secretariat must receive your application form and supporting documentation by the 30th April. If however, you are still in training after 5 years, please send a letter requesting an extension to your trainee membership which will be forwarded to the Council for consideration.
