SCHOLARSHIP FOR EUROPEAN SCHOOL FOR
CARDIO-THORACIC SURGERY IN BERGAMO  

                 European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) is organizing educational courses in cardiac and thoracic surgery in the Bergamo School. Detailed information, course dates and curriculum are available on the school’s homepage at http://www.eacts.org/index.cfm?bergamo=yes 

                 EACTS is offering a series of scholarships for young surgeons who need support for the attendance of the courses. The scholarship is fixed at 1’000 € and covers the cost of course attendance, accommodation and meals, with some pocket money. The candidates should organize the travel to Bergamo themselves. 

To qualify for this scholarship, candidates should meet following criteria: 

• Minimum of 3 years of cardio-thoracic or combined general surgical and cardio-thoracic training, for Course Level A and B.
• Specialty Board certification (or fulfilling requirements for Board certification) for Course Level C.
• Age less than 35 for Level A and B,  less than 40 for Level C
• Possibility to return to his institution after completion of the training.
• Letter of support by the chief of candidate’s own unit.
• Evidence of professional and scientific activities (lectures, symposia, publications) at local, national or international level.
• Good working knowledge of English language (read, write and speak), which will be assessed by the EACTS representatives.

Priority will be given to EU candidates who are trainee members of the EACTS and cannot receive institutional support due to budgetary restrictions.
