Training modules

A training module on the use of surgical sealants and hemostats will be part of each of the following courses:

2-7 May 2005; 5-11 September 2005; 6-11 June 2005; 10-15 October 2005

The training modules will take place on the Wednesdays, in the pm after the official program, and will last 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Each module will consist of two parts:

  1. will describe specific clinical needs in selected surgical procedures, namely prevention of air-leaks in pulmonary surgery (thoracic courses) and prevention of pericardial adhesions in re-do cardiac surgery (cardiac courses)
  2. will describe solutions available, mode of action of various agents, safety and efficacy (this part will include video presentations and practical demonstration)

The lecturers were chosen by EACTS among surgeons with specific interest in haemostasis management and surgical sealing and they will be supported in the part 2) by Dr Raymond Nistor, Global Director Baxter BioSurgery Medical Affairs.
