David Barron

David Barron has been a consultant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital since 1999. He trained at St Thomas’ Hospital, Royal Brompton and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. He is the lead for Congenital Cardiac Training in the UK and sits on the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC), National Appointments Committee for Cardiothoracic Surgery and on the Steering Committee for the National Cardiac Audit. David is a trustee of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and is the Chair for Congenital Heart Surgery in the UK. He also sits on the Clinical Advisory Panel for the National Review of Congenital Cardiac Services (NHS England) as the Surgical Representative, and is the Senate Representative on the CRG for congenital cardiac services. David is also a consultant at the Queen Elizabeth, University Hospital Birmingham for Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department of Child Health, University of Birmingham. His interests include Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Congenitally Corrected Transposition and Complex Pulmonary Atresia.
