Sara Arrigoni

Born and grown in Italy, graduated in medicine in Milan (2005) and registered as cardiac surgeon since 2010.

Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Board-certified (2014). Her PhD with the title “The hourglass of single ventricle circulation: The mirage of slowing down the sand” illustrates her main scientific interest: single ventricle patients.

After 14 years by the congenital cardiothoracic surgery department in University Medical Center Groningen, since October 2025 she works by the congenital cardiothoracic surgery department of Leiden University Medical Center.

Extensive experience with complexe congenital heart disease in all age categories, including mechanical support circulation and minimally invasive surgery by patients with congenital heart disease.

Clinical and scientific interest includes surgery by single ventricle patients, neonatal surgery and minimally invasive surgical technique by patients with congenital heart disease.
