MILAN CITY TAX

Since September 2012, Milan City Council has introduced a city tax for tourists staying overnight in Milan. Tourists will have to pay the levy in addition to the hotel bill as follows:

  • Euro 5,00 per person per night for guests staying at 4 and 5-star hotels
  • Euro 4,00 per person per night for guests staying at 3-star hotels

Group reservations for 5 rooms or more will be handled by separate contracts and regulations.

In order to submit an enquiry for a group booking, please contact MiCo dmc by e-mail at eacts-milan.hotel@micodmc.it providing the number of rooms needed, hotel category and preferred location if possible. Please note that telephone reservations will not be accepted.

Local Information

Airport –Milan has three main airports, Linate, Malpensa and Bergamo.

Milan Linate is 11km and approximately a 30 minute taxi away from the  MiCo Milano Congressi. There are coaches and buses that run regularly from the centre of Milan to Milan Linate.

Milan Malpensa is 47km and approximately a 40 minute taxi away from the  MiCo Milano Congressi. An express train runs from Malpensa to Milano Centrale.

Milan Bergamo is 43km and approximately a 60 minute taxi away from the  MiCo Milano Congressi.

Banks & Exchange – Most banks in Milan are generally open from 08:30 – 13:15 and 14:45 – 16:15. Monday to Friday Most are closed on Saturdays and Sunday

Credit Cards – Most hotels, restaurants and shops in Milan accept major credit cards.

Currency – Euro €

Electricity – The power supply in Milan is 230 volts. All sockets follow European standards. To use American-type plugs, a 220-volt transformer should be used together with an adaptor plug.

Shopping Hours – Shops are usually open 09:00 – 19:30 Tuesday to Saturday and from 15:00 on Mondays. Note that some shops take an afternoon break from around 13:00 to 15:00.

Some shops are also open on Sundays, but many will be closed all day Sunday.

Weather – The average temperature in Milan in October is quite mild at 15 °C (58 °F). Afternoons can be mild with average high temperatures reaching 19 °C (66 °F). Overnight temperatures are generally a little cool with an average low of 10 °C (50 °F).

Covid-19

We look forward to welcoming you to Milan for the 36th EACTS Annual Meeting. To ensure the safety of all those attending, we are aligning our health and safety measures with the Italian Health Ministry’s COVID regulations.  However, it is important that you take personal responsibility to travel safely and keep abreast of the regulations in your own country, as well as in Milan.

 

Before you travel

Before you travel to Milan, please check the applicable entry requirements for the country you are travelling from along with any regulations for your return travel. You can check requirements via the Italian Ministry of Health website: Novel coronavirus (salute.gov.it)  You should also check the regulations your airline or transport provider may have in place in relation to pre travel Covid-19 testing and mask etiquette.

When you arrive

All travellers should follow the advice of the local authorities on how best to protect themselves and others. Be aware that safety measures in place may change quickly to control the virus.

At the venue

Your health and safety whilst on site in Milan is our primary concern. The MiCo Convention Centre is fully operational with a full COVID protocol in place – further details can be found via the MiCo website – https://www.micomilano.it/Sites/MiCo/Download/Pdf/Covid_Novita_en.pdf

A number of safety and prevention protocols will be set in place for the event including:

Personal shielding – wearing of  a FFP2 face mask is currently compulsory

Hand sanitiser stations will be available throughout the building

Increased cleaning and disinfection in all areas

Visible signage on safety and hygiene measures

Adapted catering provision will be in place to allow for appropriate distancing

Social distancing (currently 1m) will be in place throughout the building

 

Before you leave

Please check the healthcare and documentation requirements of the country you are travelling back to.

Entry to the MiCo Conference Centre (current as at February 2022 and subject to change):

For entry to the MiCo Conference Centre you should be in possession and exhibit the “Super Green Pass” or have at least one of the following requirements:

  • certificate of vaccination (even of the first dose only, after 15 days from the same)*
  • certificate of recovery from Covid-19 infection within the previous 6

 

* in the event that more than six months have elapsed since the completion of the vaccination cycle with vaccines accepted by the EMA (European Medicines Agency) or in the case  of vaccinations with non-accepted vaccines, access is allowed only after carrying out a rapid (48 h validity) or molecular (72 h validity) antigen test with negative results, to be submitted together with the vaccination certificates above.

FAQs 

How is the Annual Meeting being adapted this year due to the COVID pandemic?

– we have revised our terms and conditions so that delegates can book with confidence

– we are organizing a hybrid meeting this year so that delegates and Industry partners can attend both in-person in Barcelona and/or virtually via the EACTS virtual platform.

Can you advise on travel restrictions and accommodation to Barcelona?

The regulations regarding international travel are subject to change on a regular basis.  We are carefully monitoring this to ensure that we can provide our delegates and Industry partners with up-to-date information.

If social distancing rules are still in place in October, how will you ensure safe distances are applied?

We will of course, adhere to the advice provided by the Government. However, in any case, our team is planning the Annual Meeting with social distancing in mind. The health and safety of exhibitors and delegates is our primary concern, and the venue will be set up accordingly. In practice this may mean for instance limiting attendance to some sessions, re-organising the way people gather in the session rooms, exhibition area and other parts of the venue during the event.

What other health and safety measures are being undertaken by EACTS?

Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination will be required for all in-person entry to the 36th EACTS Annual Meeting. Documentation will be required to be uploaded prior to the event.  If proof of vaccination is unavailable, then proof of a Negative PCR test is required.

Is the wearing of face masks compulsory during the Annual Meeting?

Yes, this is currently compulsory in for enclosed spaces and on public transport.  Exceptions: due to shortness of breath, disability or dependence, during sports, eating or drinking, on beaches and in swimming pools and in co-existing stable groups.

How can I access the presentations?

Scientific presentations will be available to delegates attending the 35th EACTS Annual Meeting via the EACTS online platform during the event and up until 16 November 2021. Thereafter they will be available via the EACTS media library.

How long will presentations be available to view on demand in the EACTS media library?

For 1 year – accessible to registered delegates of the 35th EACTS Annual Meeting only.

Which internet browser should I use to access the virtual platform?

The EACTS Platform is compatible with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, however, we recommend using Chrome.

When can I access the virtual platform?

The platform will be open for delegates from the 11th October 2021.
