Course Overview

In this hour-long session an educational case is presented.  All symptoms, patient characteristics and test results are described in detail. Together with the attendees, the best treatment decision is discussed. The solution and clinical course of the case is revealed thereafter, and scientific evidence supporting the decision is discussed.

The aim of this course is to create a platform for discussion and exchange for residents and promote clinical skills in diagnosis and decision-making in cases based on scientific evidence.
Seize the opportunity to discuss challenging cases with fellow residents and a panel of renown specialists in the field!

Chairs:

We are grateful for the support and time of the following subject matter experts who will be taking a guest chair role at this Case Corner:

R Cesnjevar, Zurich
S Wendt, Cologne

Case Submissions

There are few emergencies in congenital heart surgery that simply cannot wait and must go straight to the operating room immediately. We are looking for one of these cases to be presented. Pre-operative imaging is desirable to show the impact of the defect. Explain why surgical intervention can’t wait and percutaneous interventions are not possible. Remember to include any evidence to support your decision making!

The Residents Committee will choose the best case, and then prepare the case corner session via personal Zoom calls with the successful participant.

Support for this session will be provided by Soi Avgeridou and Claudia Cattapan

The submission deadline for the Congenital Heart Disease session is the 15 March 2024 @ 23:59 GMT
