Course Overview
The course is designed to provide the basis of aortic valve repair procedures before the participants start their own programme. It will focus on anatomy of the aortic valve, understanding of echocardiography, selection of patients, and techniques of repair procedures and their geometric principles. The tools include lectures, video presentations and live surgical case transmissions in order to highlight the principles and technical aspects of the approach.

Course Format
2 day interactive lectures, videos and live surgical cases

Course Fee
Members: €450 inclusive of VAT
Non-members: €550 inclusive of VAT

Fee includes lunch, refreshments and dinner on Thursday 16 November.

Target Audience
Cardio-thoracic surgeons who want to start aortic repair; cardiologists; cardiac anaesthesiologists; residents and fellows

Learning Objectives

  1. Clarify the interaction between cusp and root pathologies in aortic regurgitation
  2. Understand the echocardiographic characteristics of different mechanism of aortic regurgitation
  3. Learn the morphologic characteristics of normal aortic valve form
  4. Understand the concepts of cusp and root repair
  5. Learn the limits of repairability
  6. See and understand the application of different repair techniques to aortic valve/root pathologies
