Course Director
HJ Schäfers, Homburg Saar

Course Overview
Repair of the aortic valve has become an attractive alternative to replacement due to the low incidence of valve-related complications and the associated high quality of life. In order, however, to achieve reproducible repair results it is important that the surgeon understands and applies the basic concepts that are specific for the reconstruction of the aortic valve.
Professor Schäfers and his team have been dedicated to this field for more than 20 years and have developed and refined reconstructive strategies that can be applied to many regurgitant aortic valves, and based on systematic research they have attempted to advance the principal concepts from art to science. He is happy to share experience and concepts in this workshop specially designed in a didactic way that allows most participants to reproduce the content.

Course Format
Didactic lectures, video presentations, hands-on wetlab and live surgery. Please bring your surgical loupes for the wetlab.

Course Fee
Members: €525
Non-Members: €625

Fees include lunch and refreshments on all days, and dinners on Wednesday 7 September and Thursday 8 September.

In order to enhance interaction we have limited the number of participants to 40, allowing for active and free discussions.

All attendees are encouraged to do a COVID test before arriving at Saarland University Medical Center. Should you develop symptoms onsite, a lateral flow test will be provided.
