Malakh Shrestha

Malakh Shrestha is currently working as Professor of Cardiac Surgery, Director of Aortic Surgery and Vice Chairman of the Division of Cardio-thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery at the Hannover Medical School (Medizinische Hochschule Hannover) in Germany.

He is also the Program Director of Cardiac Surgical residency and involved in the surgical training of the Residents. Hannover Medical School has the largest series of Aortic valve repair (David Re-implantation technique) with more than 700 patients. He will be joining the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA as the Director of Aortic Surgery Program from October, 2022.

He has more than 130 original papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of AATS, EACTS, ISMICS, GSCTVS, GCS and NMA. He has done pioneering work in the field of Sutureless Aortic Valve Prosthesis as well as Frozen Elephant Trunk Prosthesis. He has given more than 150 presentations at international meetings and hospitals.

He is a visiting professor in several universities in different countries of the world: University of Barcelona (Spain), Chinese University of Hong Kong and Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu (Nepal). He has been part of the faculty of the EACTS academy (UK) for the past decade.
