Stephen Clark

Stephen Clark is Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplantation at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne and is the Clinical Director of Surgery, Anaesthesia and Critical Care. He was the Director of Cardiopulmonary Transplantation in Newcastle for many years. He is also a Medical Examiner and Chairman of the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is a Board member of the European Cardiothoracic Transplantation Association. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers and a member of the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators of the American College of Surgeons.

He was appointed in 2000 after training in Newcastle, London, Cambridge and Toronto and has an ongoing commitment to setting up heart and lung transplant programs in The Middle East and Asia, especially Sri Lanka where he guided their first heart transplant.
