Alessandro Wasum Mariani

Dr. Alessandro Mariani is a Thoracic Surgeon and Professor at the Division of Thoracic Surgery, University of São Paulo Medical School (FMUSP). He currently serves as National Coordinator of Thoracic Surgery Education for Rede D’Or Brasil and is the former Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Robotic Thoracic Surgery at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. He is also the designated “Host” for the official Intuitive® certification program in Robotic Thoracic Surgery and acts as a certified Proctor in Robotic Thoracic Surgery for the Brazilian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SBCT).

Dr. Mariani completed his Thoracic Surgery Residency at Hospital das Clínicas – FMUSP and holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of São Paulo.

He is a Full Member of the Brazilian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SBCT), Member of the Rare Tumors Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), Member of the Infectious Diseases Committee of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), and a Member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS). He previously served as Director of International Affairs of the SBCT.
