Amit Bhargava

Amit Bhargava is an associate professor and thoracic surgeon in the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery in the Department of Surgery. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his undergraduate and medical school education. Dr. Bhargava completed his general surgery residency training at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell, with a two-year research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Bhargava then completed advanced training in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Bhargava practiced at Montefiore Medical Center for 7 years before moving to the University of Minnesota in early 2018. He serves as the Associate Program Director for the cardiothoracic surgery residency and co-Director of the Complex Airway Program at his institution. Dr. Bhargava’s clinical interests include robotic surgery, lung cancer resection, airway surgery and esophageal disease, both malignant and benign.
