Andreas Böning

Andreas Boening graduated from Medical School at Ruhr University Bochum in 1990. Fromm 1990 until 1992, he was trained in pathology and wrote his thesis there. He completed his cardiac surgery training from 1992 to 1998 in three universities: Ruhr University Bochum, Hannover Medical School, Christian Albrechts University of Kiel. His PhD degree was accepted in Kiel in 2004. Since 2007, he is head of department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Justus Liebig University Giessen and full professor of cardiac surgery. Since 2018, he is medical director of the university hospital in Giessen.

From 2019 to 2025, he was member of the board of directors of the DGTHG, being the president of the society from 2021-2023. Since 2025, he is the editor-in-chief of the „Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgeon“.
