Dr. Luca Bertolaccini

Dr. Luca Bertolaccini, MD PhD FCCP

Dr. Luca Bertolaccini is Deputy Director of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the IEO, European Institute of Oncology IRCCS in Milan, Italy, and Assistant Professor in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Milan. His clinical practice focuses on lung cancer management with a strong translational interest in precision oncology, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision support.

He has authored or co-authored more than 370 peer-reviewed publications, several book chapters, and serves as Associate Editor (Thoracic) of the EJCTS and as an editorial board member of leading journals in the cardiothoracic field. Dr. Bertolaccini is actively involved in international scientific societies, including the EACTS, ERS, ESTS, and the IASLC, where he contributes to database initiatives, quality improvement strategies, and educational programmes.

His research activity includes leadership roles in prospective registries, multicentric collaborations, and methodological work on AI-based outcome prediction. Throughout his career, he has been committed to advancing quality, safety, and standardisation in thoracic surgical care, with a strong interest in multidisciplinary integration and evidence-based practice.
