Mustafa Mert Özgür
Dr. Mustafa Mert Özgür received his medical degree from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul and completed his residency in cardiovascular surgery at Koşuyolu High Specialization Education and Research Hospital , also in Istanbul, Türkiye. He currently works as a staff cardiovascular surgeon at Koşuyolu Hospital. His clinical and academic interests include coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), off-pump coronary revascularization (OPCAB), aortic valve surgery, minimally invasive extracorporeal circulation (MiECC), innovative techniques in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and also heart failure surgery. Dr. Özgür is also a core member of the heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support (VAD–ECMO) program at Koşuyolu Hospital. He is author and co-author of many publications and presentations. He is engaged in efforts to standardize cardiac surgery training in Türkiye and to enhance international collaboration in this field. He broadened his international experience through an observership in cardiac surgery at the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals in London, and in 2024, as a Francis Fontan Fellow, he completed the OPCAB Fellowship Programme at the University Hospital “San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona” in Salerno, Italy.
