Pre-trainee committee

The purpose of the Pre-Trainee Committee is to increase medical student and pre-training doctor engagement with cardiothoracic surgery (CTS) through educational and other relevant activities via EACTS. Through a virtual web series, the committee aims to offer insight into CTS careers, impart fundamental medical knowledge, initiate discussions on emerging topics, and introduce pre-trainees to EACTS early in their careers. The committee aims to inspire and attract talented individuals to become the future generation of CT surgeons, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the speciality.

BIOGRAPHY

Sam Burton is a medical student from the UK, currently pursuing a research master's degree in cardiac surgery in the Southwest of England. Aspiring to a career in cardiothoracic surgery, Sam is passionate about both surgical education and clinical research. Sam is excited to contribute to the production of a new space for medical students and pre-training doctors, forwarding the ethos of international collaboration in the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons.
