Roberto Di Bartolomeo

Roberto Di Bartolomeo started his medical career at the University of Bologna in 1975. He specialised in cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery and general surgery. Roberto has always worked in the Cardiac Surgery Unit of St. Orsola Hospital, Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna, Italy. Over the years he has spent many periods abroad (USA, Holland, France).

In 2000 he became Professor of Cardiac Surgery in Bologna. Since August 2002, he has been the Director of the Cardiac Surgery Unit of the Policlinico St. Orsola, Bologna, Italy.  From 2002 until 2016, Roberto was the Director of the Graduate School in Cardiac Surgery of the Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, Italy.

He is a Past President of the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery (SICCH), member of the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) and the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons (AATS). Roberto is on the Editorial Board Member for European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EJCTS) and author of more than 450 scientific publications.
