Federico Piccioni

Federico Piccioni received his medical and anesthesiology training at the University of Pavia, Italy.  He worked as staff anesthesiologist at the IRCCS Policlinico S. Matteo of Pavia and, in 2007, moved to the National Cancer Institute of Milan, Italy. From October 2020 to November 2021, Dr Piccioni was the Head of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit of the S. Maria Nuova Hospital of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Since December 2021 he is the Head of Anesthesia Unit 1 of the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Humanitas Research Hospital, Rozzano-Milan, Italy.

Dr Piccioni is Adjunct Professor of the School of Anesthesia and Intensive Care of the University of Milan. In 2019 he was visiting Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology of Wake Forest University (Winston Salem, NC, USA).

Dr Piccioni is a member of the Thoracic subcommittee of EACTAIC (European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care) and past Chairman of the Cardiothoracic and vascular study group of SIAARTI (Italian Society of Analgesia Anesthesia Resuscitation and Intensive Care). He is also a member of ITACTA (Italian Society of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologists) and ESAIC (European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care).

Dr Piccioni is author of several scientific papers published in peer-review international journals and serves as Section editor for Tumori Journal. His fields of interest are thoracic anesthesia (one-lung ventilation and acute pain management), hemodynamic and neuromuscolar monitoring, mechanical ventilation and operating room management.
