Alessandro Parolari

Dr Alessandro Parolari is Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery in the Department of Biomedical Sciences for Health, at the University of Milan. He is Chief of the Unit of Cardiac Surgery and Translational Research at Policlinico San Donato IRCCS. He is also Scientific Secretary of the Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery and Chairman of the board of directors of the Foundation of Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery.
Alessandro completed his medical training at University of Parma School of Medicine and his residency in cardiac surgery at University of Milan. He has led has led more than 2700 cardiac surgical procedures as first operator.
His main research interest is the study of translational cardiovascular surgery and several aspects of myocardial revascularisation, mainly focusing on the biological effect of coronary surgical revascularisation concerning bleeding, haemostasis, inflammation, oxidative stress and endothelial damage.
