Ana Lopez-Marco

Dr Lopez-Marco trained in cardiovascular surgery at Hospital de Bellvitge in Barcelona and in cardiothoracic surgery at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. She undertook a 2-year fellowship in complex aortovascular surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. She is a consultant cardiac and aortovascular surgeon at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and a Senior Lecturer at William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University.

She oversees the clinical aortovascular research at Barts and is the educational lead for perioperative management of complex aortovascular patients.

She is a doubly certified Board member (Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and European Board of Cardiovascular Surgery) and acts as examiner for the EBCTS.

Her clinical interests focus on aortic valve disease and all pathologies of the aorta (from the root to the thoracoabdominal segment).
