Antonio Miceli
Antonio Miceli, MD, PhD is cardiac surgeon consultant at the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Department, IRCCS Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio and Locum consultant at University Hospital Galway, Ireland. He teached at “ Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna” University for II level University Master “ Innovation in cardiac surgery: advances in minimally invasive therapeutics” in Pisa, Italy.
His main research interests include minimally invasive cardiac surgery, sutureless valve, preoperative cardiac risk stratification and development and validation of risk score, Preoperative and postoperative renal dysfunction, Intraaortic ballon pump, functional mitral regurgitation and Biostatistic.
Dr Miceli started his cardiac surgery training in Rome at the University La Sapienza and then completed his residency at the Bristol Heart Institute, University of Bristol, UK. He spent a six-month period as visiting physician at the department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, US.
He is member of the European Ass for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery (SICCH), Society of Thoracic Surgeon (STS). He is also active member of Endoscopic Cardiac surgery Club.
He is in the cardiovascular surgery nucleus of the European Society Cardiology (ESC).
Dr Miceli is author or co-author of more than 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals (Google Scholar H index 40). He serves as invited reviewer of many peer-reviewed journals and has contributed on several chapters focusing on minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery, sutureless valves.
He is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Cardiovascular medicine (IF 6) and sits on several Editorial Boards, including Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (AATS), Journal Thoracic Disease, Journal Cardiovascular medicine. He was in the editorial board of Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery for the European Association of Cardiothoracic surgeons (EACTS).
