Carlo Banfi

Carlo Banfi, MD, PhD is a cardiac surgeon, senior physician and responsible of the Mechanical Heart Support Program at the Geneva University Hospitals (Division Cardiovascular Surgery). He obtained a PhD in Cardiothoracic Surgical Physiopathology, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, (Italy). His main research interests concern heart failure, circulatory assistance, haemostasis impairment and aortic disease. In these fields, he authored or co-authored over 80 scientific papers published in peer reviewed journals and books. As Associate Editor, he is in charge of the BMC Surgery (IF:1.21). As chairman or keynote lecturer, he contributes to a number of international conferences organised by different prestigious societies. He is a Fellow of American Society of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and regular Member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, European Association of Cardio Thoracic-Surgery, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, EUROMACS, and CURT (Centre Universitaire Romand de Transplantation) member of the Management Committee.
