Cesare Quarto

Mr Cesare Quarto is a specialist in cardiac surgery with experience in all areas of cardiac surgery, including some of the most complex aortic surgery. His areas of expertise include surgery of the aortic root which include valve sparing aortic root replacement, surgery of the aortic arch, surgery of the thoracic descending aorta, coronary artery bypass surgery and aortic valve reconstruction. Dr Quarto trained as a cardiac surgeon at the University of Naples in Italy where he graduated with honours. In 2007, he moved to London from Monaldi Hospital in Italy to extend his experience in aortic and general cardiac surgery, working with world-renowned cardiac surgeons at Royal Brompton Hospital. He was appointed as a consultant at the Trust in April 2013. Since June 2015 Dr Quarto and Dr Neil Moat have jointly won three international awards for presentations about their work on a world-first transcatheter heart valve implantation to treat mitral regurgitation for patients not suitable for open heart surgery. Dr Quarto gained all of his qualifications at the University of Naples and is a qualified Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Aortic Disease, he has a Diploma with Honours in Cardiac Surgery and is a Doctor of Medicine (MD) – Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Honours).
