Clemens Aigner

Clemens Aigner received his training in thoracic surgery at Vienna Medical University where he worked as a consultant thereafter. In 2016 he was appointed Professor of Thoracic Surgery at University Medicine Essen and head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery. He served as co-director of the lung cancer center and director of the mesothelioma center at the West German Cancer Center. Since October 2022 he is heading the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Vienna Healthcare Group, Clinic Floridsdorf. His research focus in thoracic oncology are clinical and translational studies in lung cancer, mesothelioma, sarcoma and thymic tumors. He has a large experience in multimodal treatment approaches including immunotherapy and advanced resections in locally extended tumors. He received numerous prizes and awards for his research and authored more than 200 peer reviewed publications and book chapters.
