Diana Aicher

Prof. Dr. Diana Aicher is a German heart surgeon with more than 20 years of experience in the field. Her surgical spectrum covers the complete adult cardiac surgery including catheter-based procedures and minimally invasive techniques. She is recognized as a leading specialist in the field of aortic valve reconstructions, which is also her primary research focus. She is a member of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and the German Association for Cardiac Surgery and a reviewer for professional magazines. She is also a member of the German Association for Cardiology and entitled for the certification of heart failure units.

During her career she held leading positions at several hospitals including her roles as a senior consultant at the cardiovascular center Bad Bevensen, Germany and deputy medical director of the department of cardiovascular surgery and section head for cardiac valve surgery at University of Saarland, Homburg, Germany, where she still holds her teaching certificate. Lately, she joint the department of cardiac surgery, Paracelsus University in Nürnberg, Germany as a senior consultant.

Diana Aicher studied medicine at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University Mainz with several stays abroad in Switzerland and the USA. She completed her cardiosurgical training at the department of cardiovascular Surgery, University of Saarland, Homburg, Germany. She habilitated at the University of Saarland, Homburg, Germany and obtained a position as a Professor at the department for Cardiovascular Surgery at the same University.
