Fabio De Robertis

Dr De Robertis specialises in a wide range of general adult cardiac surgical procedures including heart & lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support therapies and surgical management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
His clinical interests and expertise includes total arterial revascularisation with off-pump (beating heart) techniques, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, mitral valve reconstructive surgery, aortic valve and root surgery with human substitutes (homograft) and prosthetic substitutes.
He trained as a cardiac surgeon at the University of Naples, Italy and in 2000 he joined Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub at Harefield Hospital to obtain further subspecialty training in complex cardiac conditions and transplantation. He completed the mitral fellowship at the Royal Brompton in 2009 and was appointed consultant at Harefield soon after. The current focus of his activity includes minimally invasive lung transplantation, reconditioning and preservation of donor organs and surgical therapies for cardiac failure including ventricular assist device systems.
Fabio is frequently invited to lecture and present original scientific work at national and international meetings for surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and physiotherapists. He regularly teaches on cardiac failure surgery for BSc students at Imperial College London.
