Joseph Coselli
Dr. Coselli is the Executive Vice-Chair of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, holds the Cullen Foundation Endowed Chair, and is Professor of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). He serves as Associate Chief of the Cardiovascular Service at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, located in the Houston, Texas Medical Center. He was Program Director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency at THI/BCM for two decades and directs the Aortic Fellowship Program at BCM.
Dr. Coselli specializes in diseases of the aorta and was mentored by Drs. E. Stanley Crawford, Denton Cooley, and Michael E. DeBakey. He has performed more than 10,500 aortic repairs, including over 3,800 of thoracoabdominal aorta, for which he is world-renowned. He has published more than 600 medical manuscripts, over 120 book chapters, delivered over 1,000 presentations in 39 countries, and has performed operative aortic procedures in 13 countries. Dr. Coselli was the Past President of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and currently serves as a Director of the Board of the AATS Foundation.
Dr. Coselli is an innovator and a leader in his field and is highly experienced in complex aortic repair, such as patients with connective tissue disorders (such as Marfan and Loeys-Dietz syndromes), as well as emergent repair performed in patients with conditions such as acute aortic dissection or aortic rupture.
