Luca Di Marco

Luca Di Marco graduated in 2001 as a medical doctor at the ALMA MATER Bologna University. In 2004 he obtained his PhD in “Experimental Clinical Disciplines in Thoracic-Cardiac-Vascular Surgery” at the University of Bologna focusing his study on cerebral protection in aortic arch surgery with Antegrade Selective Cerebral Perfusion. He graduated as a cardiac surgeon in 2009. During and after finishing his residency in cardiac surgery, Luca carried out several fellowships, stages and observership periods at qualified and important Italian and international centers ( St. Luc Hospital UCL, Brussels, Belgium; Cardiothoracic Department London Chest Hospital, London, UK; Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, St. Antonious Ziekenhuis, Nieuwegein, Netherlands; Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA; Department of Cardiovascular Surgery Herzzentrum, Freiburg, Germany; “Center for Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy” – Cardiac Surgery Dept. Policlinico di Monza, Italy; Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin, Germany). focusing his interests in particular on aortic surgery. Currently, he is staff member as senior surgeon at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Bologna University Hospital. His areas of interest are Valve Surgery, Thoracic and Thoracoabdominal Aorta Surgery, Thoracic and Thoracoabdominal Aorta “hybrid” surgery, Cerebral Protection in aortic arch surgery, Aortic Dissection, Endovascular Aortic Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery and Heart Trasplantation. He is active member of SICCH, EACTS, ANMCO, ESC, CTSNet, co-chairman and member of Italian Group of Study on Outcome in Cardiac Surgery (GIROC) – Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery (SICCH), member of the Editorial board of the Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Journal, Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, EC Cardiology Journal, Annals of Cardiovascular Surgery.
