Mauro Cassese
Mauro Cassese graduated as a medical doctor in 1982 at the University of Rome, Italy. He obtained his degree in General Surgery and Cardiovascular Surgery in 1987 and in 1992, respectively. He was a fellow in general surgery and subsequently in cardiac surgery at the University of Oklahoma and next at Southwestern University in Dallas in the years 1985-86. He currently is the Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Casa Sollievo Hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. His main interests in the field of cardiac surgery have been totally arterial myocardial revascularization and mitral valve repair. In the last ten years he has been mainly focused in minimally invasive valve surgery and TAVI with more than 3000 transcatheter interventions performed for aortic, mitral and tricuspid diseases.
