Mylvaganam Jeyakanthan
Jeya obtained his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, UK. He completed his basic surgical training (MRCS) and speciality training in Cardiothoracic surgery (FRCS C-Th) in the Northeast region of England. He moved to Canada spending a number of years in transplant immunology research- trained in basic science under world renowned clinician scientist Prof Lori West initially at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto before relocating to University of Alberta where he obtained his PhD. He went on to complete post doctoral fellowship and worked as senior research associate scientist. He returned to Freeman hospital where he completed further sub-speciality training in MCS and heart lung transplantation. He is currently an important member of the heart failure/MCS and transplant team. His interests include short term MCS (ECMO, Impella etc.), durable LVAD and Transplant Immunology.
