Piergiorgio Solli

Graduated at University of Parma, he completed his General Surgery and then Thoracic Surgery residency programme and subsequently obtained a PhD Diploma in Cardio-thoracic Surgery at the University of Modena, Italy. He further enhanced his experience with one year Thoracic Surgery Fellowships at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK (under the supervision of Professors P Goldstraw ) in 1996 and with a 4-months fellowship in the Hôpital Pasteur CHU Nice, FRA (under the supervision of Professors J Moroux) in 1998. He has been working as Staff Surgeon at the National Cancer Center in Milan, Italy under the supervision of Prof U Pastorino, then as a Consultant in the European Institute of Oncology (Clinical Lead Prof L Spaggiari). He was successfully appointed as Consultant Thoracic Surgeon in Papworth Hospital, Cambridge UK in 2014 and as Chief Thoracic Surgeon Consultant in ASL Romagna, Italy in 2016. Since 2010 he has always spearhead the development of programs of minimally invasive Thoracic Surgery program focusing on VATS Lobectomy and in 2013 was co-founder of the Italian VATS Group. This is a National VATS Interest group of dedicated clinicians and researchers with a common goal of establishing and promoting a standardized surgical technique for VATS. He is a member of several International Societies including ESTS, EACTS, IASLC, ERS, CTSnet and reviewer on peer reviewed journals. He has published several papers  with over 3800 citations and an H-Index of 30. He has been lecturer or invited speakers on numerous International meetings and educational events.
