Tim Jones

Tim Jones is a consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeon at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals Birmingham.  He is an honorary senior lecturer at University of Birmingham.

He graduated in medicine from The London Hospital Medical College, University of London and after completing training in adult cardiothoracic surgery he undertook specialist training in paediatric cardiac surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.

Following a two year research Fellowship at Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA he was awarded a research Doctorate in Medicine (MD) form the University of London.  His areas of research interests are end organ protection during cardiopulmonary bypass.

He is committed to medical education and sits on UK Senior Advisory Committee in cardiothoracic surgery, School of Surgery Board for West Midlands and Cardiothoracic Senior Advisory Board of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.   His specific educational interests are the role of simulation in surgical education and human factors in the operating room to improve patient safety.
