Xinghua Cheng
Dr. Cheng Xinghua holds dual doctoral degrees in Surgery (Peking University) and Physiology (King’s College London). He currently serves as Associate Chief Surgeon of Thoracic Surgery and Director of the Department of Surgical Oncology at Shanghai Chest Hospital and Deputy Director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Biological Therapy for Thoracic Tumours.
Dr. Cheng is a member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), and also serves as Committee Member & Secretary of the Thoracic Surgery Branch of Shanghai Medical Association, Standing Young Director of Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association, etc.
His honours include Shanghai Outstanding Young Talent, Nomination for Shanghai Young Medical “Silver Snake Award”, Outstanding Young Medical Talent Award of Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, etc.
Specialising in thoracic tumour surgery, he is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary nodules, minimally invasive surgery for early lung cancer, comprehensive treatment for advanced lung cancer, and common thoracic diseases. His technical strengths lie in MR-guided precision resection of early lung cancer via single-port thoracoscopy and surgery-centered comprehensive treatment for complex lung cancer. He won the championship in the East China Divisions at the 8th Greater China Thoracoscopic Surgery Elite Competition (2022).
His main research interests focus on MR-based thoracic surgical navigation, mechanism of early lung cancer via organoid technology, and the impact of tumour microenvironment on lung cancer metastasis.
