Yutaka Okita

Dr. Okita was born in 1952 and was graduated from Kobe University Medical School in 1978. He was trained in Tenri Hospital, Nara, Japan, in the National Heart Hospital, London UK 1986, and in University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA 1989. He became the staff surgeon in 1987. He moved to the National Cardiovascular Center, Osaka in 1993 and was promoted as the Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, Kobe University in 1999. In 2018, he retired from the Kobe University and was appointed as the chief, Cardio-Aortic Center, Takatsuki General Hospital, Osaka. His main interest has been the surgery of thoracic aorta and adult cardiac surgery. He was the congress president of 40th Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery in 2010, 68th Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery 2015, 30th Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery 2022, and 1st STS-ASCVTS Aortic Summit 2024. He served as the Society President of the Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery from 2015 to 2019 and as the Editor-in-Chief, General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery from 2011 to 2019. Currently, He is the Eitor-in-Chief, the Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals since 2019.
