The Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) webinar series is designed to demonstrate the utility of guideline-directed care in cardiothoracic surgery through bridging theoretical knowledge with practical insights. The inaugural webinar will focus on all known aspects of the natural history, diagnosis and treatment of both acute and chronic aortic pathologies.
Guest Speakers: E Quintana, J Kletzer, M Czerny, M Santander, M Grabenwöger
The inaugural webinar focuses on all known aspects of the natural history, diagnosis and treatment of both acute and chronic aortic pathologies. Presenting two case studies, this webinar provides practical insight into how the EACTS/STS Guidelines for diagnosing and treating acute and chronic syndromes of the aortic organ can be applied to improve skills, surgery and patient outcomes.
The second webinar of this series will provide practical insight into how the EACTS Guidelines on Perioperative Medication in Adult Cardiac Surgery can be applied to mitigate perioperative risks and support long-term patient benefits and optimal quality of life after cardiac interventions, with an impact on healthcare costs and resources.
The course is designed to provide the cardiothoracic surgeon in training with didactic teaching and hands on cadaveric surgical training experience under the guidance of a faculty of experienced surgeons. Candidates will also implant left ventricular assist devices, practice cannulation for ECMO and gain practical experience of ex vivo lung perfusion.
Are you curious about the origins and future of aortic root enlargement surgery? In this episode, our hosts discuss the surgical horizons of this underutilised technique. Featuring the well-respected Bo Yang, Can Gollmann-Tepeköylü and Miia L Lehtinen explore the creation of this innovative technique, as well as its reputation and utility in the surgical community. Listeners can expect to hear firsthand how Dr Yang discovered his esteemed procedure, as well as detailed comparisons to similar interventions and how patient suitability is assessed.
Are you looking to deepen your understanding of perioperative medication? Join us for the first episode of 2025, where we offer listeners an author insight into the recently published ‘2024 EACTS Guidelines on perioperative medication in adult cardiac surgery’.
The transcatheter fellowship is designed for cardiac surgery trainees who want to learn how to differently approach the treatment of all heart valves diseases percutaneously.
Pulmonary thromboendarterectomy is a difficult operation under deep hypothermic circulatory arrest. It is not commonly done and only a few centres and a few surgeons dominate the technique and the indications.
This Fellowship aims to provide a comprehensive overview of PC-MCS, including current practices, outcomes, and research in this often-overlooked area of surgical training.
The Fellowship offers candidates the opportunity to learn key aspects of mitral valve surgery from expert leaders. This includes understanding when surgery is indicated, the benefits of mitral valve repair versus replacement, and mastering various surgical approaches (full sternotomy, minimally invasive, and endoscopic).
