Course Overview

In this hour-long session an educational case is presented.  All symptoms, patient characteristics and test results are described in detail.  Together with the attendees, the best treatment decision is discussed.  The solution and clinical course of the case is revealed thereafter, and scientific evidence supporting the decision is discussed.

The aim of this course is to create a platform for discussion and exchange for residents and promote clinical skills in diagnosis and decision-making in cases based on scientific evidence.

Seize the opportunity to discuss challenging cases with fellow residents and a panel of renown specialists in the field!

Case Submissions

Increasingly mechanical circulatory support is being used due to the shortage of donor hearts and in some cases even used as a destination therapy. We are looking for a case where a patient requires mechanical support in the management of a their cardiac disease as bridge to recovery or transplantation. Remember to include any evidence to support your decision making!

The Residents Committee will choose the best case, and then prepare the case corner session via personal Zoom calls with the successful participant.

Support for this session will be provided by Tom Bracco-Gartner and Leo Pölzl

The submission deadline for the Mechanical Circulatory Support session is the 9 August 2024 @ 23:59 GMT
