Aaron Ranasinghe

Aaron Ranasinghe is a Consultant Cardiac and Heart/Lung Transplant Consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS FT. He graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1997 and trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplantation in the West Midlands, Glenfield Hospital, Leicester and Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

He was a British Heart Foundation Research Fellow and after completing his MD was awarded a Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

His specialist interests are Heart and Lung Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support. He is a member of the EACTS Heart Failure Taskforce.

He has been Course Director of the Birmingham Review Course since 2013 and has always had a strong interest in education. He was appointed as Director of the EACTS Academy in 2020.
