Ivan Netuka

After graduating from 1st Medical School of Charles University, Prague, the Czech Republic in 1997, Prof. Ivan Netuka completed his vascular and subsequently cardiovascular surgery residency and successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in cardiovascular pathophysiology. Since 2000 he has been professionally attached to the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, where in 2017 he was promoted to Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. In the following year, he was appointed Professor of Cardiac Surgery at 1st Medical School in Prague. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed international journal articles and book chapters focusing predominantly on all aspects of advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory assistance. Prof. Netuka is active in numerous professional international projects and associations. In 2020 he was designated as Deputy Editor of the prestigious Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
