Maurizio Infante

Maurizio Infante received his Medical Degree from the University of Milan School of Medicine in 1986 and was trained as a Thoracic Surgeon in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the National Cancer Institute of Milan.
In 2003 he was a clinical fellow of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium for 12 months. From 2004 to 2015 he was employed by the Thoracic Surgery Unit of the Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, Italy.
Currently he is the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, University and Hospital Trust, Verona, Italy and the lead of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Team.
His clinical practice includes the care of patients with tumors of the lung, pleura, mediastinum and chest wall, benign mediastinal and chest wall disease, and trauma. Current interests include minimally invasive surgery for lung cancer and thymoma, locally advanced lung cancer, malignant pleural mesothelioma, chest wall surgery for benign and malignant conditions and oligometastatic lung cancer.
He was formerly Scientific Advisor of the Italian VATS-group, promoting major lung resection by VATS for lung cancer in Italy. He is currently a Member of the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery, European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, European Society of Thoracic Surgeons and International Association for the Study of Lung cancer, a member of the IASLC staging and Prognostic Factors Committee, and Editorial Board Member of Translational Lung Cancer Research, an open access journal.
In 2003 he won the Alfred Soffer Research Award at the CHEST Annual Meeting (Orlando – FL, USA) for his work on Lung Cancer Screening
