Steven Jacobs graduated in 2008 as a medical doctor. Thereafter he started his general and cardiac surgery training at the University Hospitals of Leuven with fellowships in the UK and The Netherlands. In 2019 he defended his PhD thesis on mechanical ventricular support in chronic heart failure. Currently he is a staff member at the cardiac surgery department of the University Hospitals of Leuven where his main focus is off pump coronary bypass surgery and mechanical circulatory support. He is an assistant professor at the Catholic University of Leuven and involved in several national and international training programs.
