Julia Dumfarth
After graduation from medical school at the Medical University Vienna in 2008, Julia Dumfarth started residency in cardiac surgery at the Medical University in Vienna and later transferred to the Medical University Innsbruck. She obtained a PhD in cardiovascular medicine and spent a research year at the Yale New Haven Aortic Institute. From 2010 to 2025 she has been working as academic surgeon at the Medical University Innsbruck, where she was head of the local heart transplant program and became Assistant Professor for Aortic Surgery. In September 2025 she returned back to her alma mater as she received a professorship for genetic aortopathies at the Department for Cardiac and Thoracic Aortic Surgery at the Medical University Vienna.
