Dr. Sabrina Siregar graduated as a medical doctor in 2009 at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU). After her graduation she performed clinical work at the department of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at the UMCU. In 2010 she started her research project on the outcomes of cardiac surgery in The Netherlands. This research project resulted in the thesis entitled “Safety in cardiac surgery”, which led to a cum laude dissertation in 2013 at the University of Utrecht. During this period she also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Utrecht. In 2014 she started her residency in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at the Leiden University Medical Center. After her graduation as a cardio-thoracic surgeon in 2019, she continued her clinical work in Leiden. Her areas of interest are coronary artery bypass surgery and lung surgery. In addition, she continues to participate in national research projects regarding cardiac surgery risk scores and outcomes.
