Course Overview

In this hour-long session an educational case is presented.  All symptoms, patient characteristics and test results are described in detail.  Together with the attendees, the best treatment decision is discussed.  The solution and clinical course of the case is revealed thereafter, and scientific evidence supporting the decision is discussed.

The aim of this course is to create a platform for discussion and exchange for residents and promote clinical skills in diagnosis and decision-making in cases based on scientific evidence.

Seize the opportunity to discuss challenging cases with fellow residents and a panel of renown specialists in the field!

Chairs

We are grateful for the support and time of the following subject matter experts who will be taking a guest chair role at this Case Corner:

Case Submissions

Aortic dissection usually requires emergency surgery, however success is dependent on protecting the brain and restoring perfusion.  There are multiple different strategies to achieve this. We are looking for a case where the candidate will take us through the aortic dissection repair including the cannulation and neuroprotective strategies and support their decision making with evidence.

The Residents Committee will choose the best case, and then prepare the case corner session via personal Zoom calls with the successful participant.

Support for this session will be provided by Maroua Eid and Jules Olsthoorn

The submission deadline for the Aortic Dissection session is the 17 May 2024 @ 23:59 GMT
